A resolute South Africa cricket team defeated Australia cricket team by 10 runs in their last group stage encounter in the ICC World Cup 2019 at the Old Trafford today. With Australia losing the match, India finish on top of the ICC World Cup Points Table and will face New Zealand at the Old Trafford, Manchester on July 9 and Australia will face England at Edgbaston, Birmingham on July 11.

Faf du Plessis' century and Rassie van der Dussen's 95 powered Proteas to 325/6 in 50 overs with a quickfire fifty from Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram's 34 runs that gave the early lead to the proteas.

In reply, Australia had a shaky start With skipper Aaron Finch, Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis falling early but David Warner slammed a century with Alex Carey putting a brilliant 85. Yet, the chase was long and South Africa bounced back with Kagiso Rabada and Andile Phelukwayo picking wickets at crucial moments.

It was also the last ODI for JP Duminy and Imran Tahir for South Africa, and they end their otherwise dismal campaign at the ICC World Cup 2019 on a happy note.
