India’s Ashish Kumar made sure that the fourth day of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham remained a good day for Indian Boxing as he beat his Round of 16 opponent from Niu to advance to the quarterfinal of the Men’s 80 kg category. He won by a unanimous decision of 5:0 by the judges. 
 
Earlier in the day, Amit Panghal and Mohd Hussamuddin won their respective Round of 16 bouts too to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 4 LIVE: India’s Harjinder Kaur gets lucky bronze in Weightlifting

 
It was out of the blue that India's Harjinder Kaur, who lifted only 119 kg, 2kg less than her personal best of 121 kg in clean and jerk, managed to secure herself at least a bronze medal in Women’s 71 kg category of Weightlifting event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. 
 
Nigerian weightlifter who lifted 100 kg in Snatch, seven more than Harjinder, failed to lift any weight in her Clean and Jerk attempts and was thus ruled out of the medal contention. 
 
Harjinder was earlier thought to be out of the medal contention as the coaches advised her to lift only 119 kg, assuming that the Candian lifter, who was behind her by two kgs, won’t be able to lift her next attempt, which was seven kgs more than her last attempt. However, as luck would have it, India and Harjinder now have a bronze. England’s Sarah Davies won the gold while Canada’s Alexis Ashworth won the silver medal.
