The Indian contingent maintained its pace in the Commonwealth Games even on day four as it marched into the final of three events to target at least three gold medals on day five of the event. However, on day four, it could not get any gold.
Sushila Devi Likmabam reached close to winning the yellow metal in the Women's 48 kg category in Judo but lost to South Africa in the final. Another Indian Judoka Vijay Yadav won bronze while Harjinder Kaur fetched a lucky bronze medal in the Women's 71 kg category of the Weightlifting event.
The Indian Mixed Badminton team remained unbeaten as they beat Singapore 3-0 to march into the final. In the final, they will face Malaysia which beat England in their semi-final.
India created history in Lawn Bowls as its Women's Fiurs team beat New Zealand in the Semi-Final 16-13 to secure the first ever medal for the country in the sport at the Commonwealth Games level. The happiness stretched to the Table Tennis arena as well as the Indian Men's team beat Nigeria 3-0 to progress to the final of the event where they will face Singapore who beat England in their Semi-Final.
It was a sensational day in Boxing too as all three Indian pugilists in Amit Panghal, Mohd Hussamuddin and Ashish Kumar advanced to the quarterfinal in their respective weight categories.
India had a mixed day in Squash as Joshana Chinappa lost a frustrating quarterfinal against Canada in Women's Singles. She seemed more worried by the umpire's decision than her on-field play, leaving four-game points opportunities in the third set to make a comeback. Saurav Ghosal though made no such mistakes and won his Men's Singles Quarterfinal against Scotland 3-1 to march into the semis.
The Indian Hockey team also disappointed after claiming a 3-0 lead, it let England come back in the game and eventually had to settle with 4-4 draw after it conceded three goals in the last quarter and collected two yellow cards too.
