With 13 on-air sponsors for the FIFA World Cup 2018, Sony Pictures Network India (SPN), the official broadcaster of the event in India is a happy camper. Even with limited on-air advertising inventory, brands have flocked to advertise on the premiere global football tournament, especially given the growing popularity of the sport in the country. Here is a look at the top 10 advertising categories, firms and brands (by volume) for the World Cup telecast on SPN. Of the top 10 advertisers, seven are on-air sponsors on the network. These include Hero Moto, Apple, Volkswagen, Honda Motors, Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), Apollo Tyres and Uber. Other sponsors include Parle Agro, Amul, Carlsberg, HDFC Mutual Fund, Castrol and Indeed. While they are not sponsors for the event, retail brand Big Bazaar and e-commerce giant Amazon feature on the top 10 list, as does telecom major Bharti Airtel. Both Amazon and Airtel have been investing in advertising on sports events consistently over the past few years
