As France have qualified for the finals of Fifa World Cup 2018, the world waited for the 2nd finalist. Croatia will now face France in the World Cup final on Sunday. A late goal from striker Mario Mandzukic helped Croatia overcome England with a 2-1 victory here on Wednesday to enter the final of the FIFA World Cup for the first time.

Mandzukic scored in the 109th minute to give Croatia the winning goal after Ivan Perisic (68th minute) cancelled out Kieran Trippier's goal for England in the fifth minute from a free-kick.

England have now been eliminated in four of their five semi-finals at major tournaments, losing each of the last four in a row (Euro 1968 v Yugoslavia, World Cup 1990 v Germany, Euro 1996 v Germany and World Cup 2018 v Croatia).
