Croatia have yet again come out as winners in a game that went into extra time and eventually into the Penalty Shoot-Out. The quarterfinal bout between the Croats and the Brazil side ended 0-0 in regulation time of 90 minutes before the extra time was called in. 

In the extra time, Neymar broke the deadlock with an aesthetically pleasing goal in the 105th minute. Croatia's never-say-die attitude came to their rescue as Petkovic scored in the 116th minute and sent the game into the penalty shoot-out. 

In the shoot-out, Rodrygo and Marquinhos missed the penalty while all the Croatian takers hit the back of the net to eventually win it 4-2 and advance to yet another semi-final where they will await the winners of the Netherlands vs Argentina clash which takes place later tonight. 

The Preview

Croatia, who are the runners-up from the last World Cup, have waged their way to yet another quarterfinal, even after drawing against Morocco in their first match. In their Round of 16 contest against Japan too, they were just not the better team., but got lucky in the penalty shoot-out. 

On the other hand, Brazil have been flawless throughout the campaign except for a game against Cameroon in which they were defeated by a moment of brilliance from Vincent Abubakar late in the game. In the Round of 16, they beat South Korea 4-1 to send a statement to other teams. 

The result of this match is going to play a crucial role in the making of the semi-final in the sense that if Brazil win tonight and Argentina win later in the night, it will set up a mouth-watering clash between the South American arch-rivals Argentina and Brazil.

Rodrygo to shoot and Livakovic saves it again and after the first score from Croatia, it has given them a crucial 1-0 lead

Casemiro scores and gets it past Livakocic, who once again went in teh right direction

It is the ultimate fighting spirit of the Croats that has once again forced yet another game into the Penalty Shoot-Out. Brazil took the lead at the end of the first half of the 30 minutes extra time. However, in the 116th minute, Petkovic of Croatia got one back in and now the game is headed to Penalties where Croatia have a great lead against all other teams. They even go t to the quarterfinal courtesy a penalty shoot out win.

Incredible, unbelievable, you can call it whatever you like, but Croatia wouldn’t just let it go. In the last four minutes of the game, it is Bruno Petkovic who has done it. This is one of the best field goals that you would come across here as the main man for Brazil, Neymar Junior scored at almost the end of the first half of the extra time. 

 

He was pushed by the defenders, but the goalkeeper was drawn further and Neymar just nudged it on the roof of the Croatian goalpost
