IND vs WI 2nd ODI Live: Prasidh, Surya help IND take unassailable 2-0 lead

Rohit Sharma led India beat West Indies and took an unassailable 2-0 leading the three-match series. Prasidh Krishna took 4 wickets while Surya scored 64 to star in the win

IND vs WI live update: The Indian cricket team beat the West Indies cricket team in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat by 44 runs totake an  unassailable 2-0 lead in the three match series, hhaving won the first match by five wickets at the same venue. 

West Indies, who were set a target of 238 to win, never looked like getting to it as they kept losing wickets continuously and ended up being 767-5 before Akeal Hosein joined Shamarh Brooks and both added 44 for the sixth wicket. Hosein then partnered with Fabian Allen to get Windies past 150 and in contention of the chase before both of them were removed quick succession to leave the Caribbean team reeling at 159-8. 

A few big shots from Odean Smith flickered up some hope for the Windies team but Washington Sunar's tight line saw his back as well. West Indies were eventually bowled out for 193. Prasidh Krishna picked four wickets for India while Shardul Thakur got two wickets. 

Earlier in the day after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India set 238 as the target for West Indies after Suryakumar Yadav's 64 and 49 from KL Rahul. Odean Smith and Alzarri Joseph picked two wickets each for West Indies.

In a much deserving manner Prasidh Krishna, the bowler who started the wicket fall of West Indies has ended it as well as he traps Kemar Roach LBW to take his fourth wicket of the game and help India win the game by 44 runs and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Alzarri Joseph takes a single and brings Odean on strike for five balls against Washington Sundar. This is interesting

 

After all the drama and excitement to the build-up of this over and Washington Sundar manages to sustain it till the last over as Virat Kohli takes a stunning catch to remove Odean Smith. The ball was a bit short, not full enough to slog sweep, Smith still went for it and managed to sky it to mid-wicket where Kohli was calm as a cucumber to hold on to it.

So far Siraj has bowled three wides and end ends with a couple of runs. The last ball, a slower one was in the air as Smith couldn't connect well with it, but it was in the gap as well. 11 runs came from that over. 48 now needed from 8 overs.

And that's one foot in the door for India as Hosein couldn't handle a well-directed short ball and the ball took the toe end of his bat and stood up in the air for Rishabh Pant to come running, dive and catch it
