The second T20 international between India and Australia was called off after intermittent rain made it impossible for the teams to continue the play at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium (MCG) on Friday.
India now still trail behind Australia 0-1 with just one T20 match left to equal the series.
Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bowl first, Australia suffered early jolts and it continued till the end of their innings but rain had other plans today.
India reduced Australia to 132 for seven in 19 overs before intermittent rain revised the visitors' target to 90 runs in the second T20.
The weather interrupted thrice and the match was first reduced to 19-overs a side and the DLS target for India to level the series was 137 runs. More rain meant the target was revised to 90 runs in 11 overs.
The final revision was made and the target given to India was 46 runs in 5 overs but in the end, the play was called off.
Rahul's form will be crucial for India at this stage and at the same time, they'd look to improve their fielding, including skipper Kohli who dropped an important catch that proved costly.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2-20) and Khaleel Ahmed (2-39) removed Australian top-order, reducing them to 41-4.
India did not make any changes in their side while Australia brought in Nathan Coulter-Nile for Billy Stanlake.
Bhuvneshwar dismissed Aaron Finch on golden duck on his second delivery.
Poor fielding by Indian fielders eluded Bhuvneshwar of more wickets as catches were dropped at regular intervals.
First, Rishabh Pant spilled a difficult diving catch behind the wickets with D'Arcy Short (14) getting a life on 7. Two balls later, Chris Lynn (13), on nought, should have been caught at fine leg, only for Jasprit Bumrah (1-20) to spill it over the rope and for a six.
Khaleel wreaked havoc with his pace, dismissing Lynn and Short but his expensive last over brought some relief for Australia.
Bumrah had Marcus Stoinis (4) caught in the deep in the seventh over to put the hosts under more pressure.
Glenn Maxwell 19 (22) stayed for a while but was removed by Krunal Pandya but Ben McDermott (32 not out) added valuale runs for the Aussies.
Kuldeep Yadav (1-23) too made his presence felt, chipping in with Alex Carey's (4) dismissal.
Australia somehow managed to cross the 100-mark in the 16th over, thanks to a 27-run partnership between Nathan Coulter-Nile (18) and McDermott.
Coulter-Nile hit two sixes and a four during his nine-ball stay.
McDermott held one end together and put on 31 runs off 20 balls with Andrew Tye (12 not out), providing a little impetus to the innings before rain halted proceedings.
