After present skipper Virat Kohli, India's former skipper M S Dhoni is likely to join the elite group of batsmen with 10,000 ODI runs as he is just one run away from achieving the milestone.

If Dhoni achieves the milestone in the 5th ODI against West Indies, he will be the fifth Indian and 13th overall to join the elite club.

Virat Kohli brought up his 10K ODI runs milestone in his 205th innings in the second ODI verus West Indies, becoming the fastest batsman to do so.

Kohli also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar, who achived the feat in his 259th innings in 2001.

Dhoni has a total of 10,173 runs in 331 matches at an average of 50 in the 50-over format which includes his 174 runs for Asia XI. So, for India, Dhoni has 9,999 ODI runs.

Afro-Asia Cup matches in 2007 were given international status by the ICC. Hence, Dhoni's 174 runs were added to his total tally of ODI runs.

Dhoni, who has mostly batted at the lower order in his career, will also join Kohli as the only active players in the 10K ODI runs club.

After Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli, M S Dhoni will be the fifth Indian batsman to score 10000 runs.
