ISL 2018-19: Mumbai City FC put Delhi Dynamos FC to the sword in 4-2 win

Full-time report: Mumbai City FC put four past Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi to move to fourth spot in the points table after a sublime 4-2 win.

Once again, Delhi Dynamos failed to take advantage of an early lead that they had got in as soon as the third minute after Mumbai's Sauvik Chakrabarti turned a Chhangte shot into his own net.

Delhi Dynamos started with a high line that served them well as they kept pressuring the Mumbai defence. Both the teams tried their luck from distance multiple times but never really found the back of the net. 

The second half started with a cracker after the referee pointed to the penalty spot after Kotal handled the ball inside the box. Rafael Bastos stepped up and slammed his penalty kick into the top right corner with the goalkeeper unmoved to make it 1-1.

The penalty was a sort of omen for what was to come as the two teams scored four goals between them in the next 40 minutes.

The first of them came in the 61st minute when Delhi score an own-goal of their own. Machado tried to find Bastos inside the box with a cross from left but Crespi tried to head the ball out of play which looped into the top right corner.

Delhi replied within minutes when they got a free-kick on the right inside Mumbai half in the 64th minute. Mihelic floated the ball at the near post and Zuiverloon bended his header into the left corner to make the affairs fair at the JLN Stadium.

Mumbai though added another to their tally in the 69th minute when Rayneir scored a fine goal. Bastos picked out Machado on the left who pulled it back for Raynier in the middle and the youngster simply passed the ball into the left corner, away from the diving goalkeeper, to score Mumbai's third goal of the evening.

The visitors plied more misery on Josep Gombau's men when scoring a brilliant team-goal in the 80th minute. Arnold Issoko received the ball on the right and waited for Machado to arrive in front of the goal and when Issoko eventually put in the cross, Machado finished the move with aplomb to make it 2-4.

Both teams created more chances in the next 10 minutes to try and force the matter, but the scoreline didn't change.

Delhi especially had to suffer because of a goal-line clearance by Subhasish and some fine goalkeeping by Amrinder Singh in the injury time.

The win sends Mumbai City FC to fourth spot in points table with 17 points from nine games while Delhi languish at the bottom of the table with four points from 10 games.
