Full-time report: Neither Neither ATK nor FC Goa could find the back of the net at the Sale Lake Stadium in Kolkata despite both the teams creating a number of chances and were thus forced to leave the pitch with one point apiece.
FC Goa had the first real stab at goal when, in the seventh minute, after a great passage play, FC Goa managed to find Seriton Fernandes whose shot from inside right could only find the side-netting.
Six minutes later, it was ATK's chance to go for goal when Mourtada Fall got at the end of a cross at the far post where he was unmarked. Fall tried a diving downward header but failed to keep his effort on target.
ATK also went close in the 29th minute when Lanzarote slid a pass to Jayesh Rane who low-crossed the ball first time to Everton Santos in the middle. Santos got a toe to the delivery but Nawaz parried it away for a corner. Minutes later, Lanzarote himself nearly got ATK the opener when, after getting the ball on the inside right, he chested it down and hit it on the volley and the ball rolled across the face of the goal, inches away from the far post.
As the half-time neared, FC Goa had another good chance, in the 42nd minute to be precise, when Coro got the ball and got away from two defenders and once inside the box tried a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner but Arindam did well to not only keep the ball out but also hold onto it.
ATK got more chance in the second half when Jayesh Rane was played on the right by Lanzarote in the 54th minute. Rane pulled the trigger only to see Nawaz make a fine save. Six minuts later, ATK went close again when the home team got a free-kick far on the left and the cross was floated into the mix where Vieira, with a bandaged head, tried to flick it into the goal but missed the target by the slightest of margins.
FC Goa, too, got a golden chance in the 90th minute when Corominas, on the right, passed it to Edu Bedia who got a very soft touch and the ball rolled out tamely for a corner.
Both teams would be kicking themselves for failing to score in a match where they might feel more calmness in the final third could have given them all three points.
The draw sends Goa to second spot with 17 points from nine games while ATK are in the sixth spot with 12 points from nine games.
