IPL 2021, Eliminator, RCB vs KKR highlights: Kolkata wins by 4 wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by four wickets in the IPL 2021 Eliminator to set up the Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals on October 13.

Skipper Virat Kohli made a 33-ball 39 while his opening partner Devdutt Padikkal contributed 21 runs.

Spinner Sunil Narine rocked the RCB batting order with a four-wicket haul while Lockie Ferguson dismissed two batters.

Narine then returned to play an impact knock of 26 runs off 15 balls after Shubhman Gill (29) and Venkatesh Iyer (26) provided a good start to KKR.

Skipper Eoin Morgan (5) and Shakib Al Hasan (9) took the side home with two balls to spare.

Earlier. West Indies spinner Sunil Narine showed glimpses of his vintage past with a magical four-wicket haul as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) restricted Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a sub-par 138 for seven in the IPL 2021 Eliminator, at Sharjah Cricket Ground today.

Narine (4/21) sent RCB's big guns back in the dug-out as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell had no answer to his turning deliveries under pressure situation.

With Varun Chakravarthy (0/20) not conceding a single boundary and Shakib Al Hasan (0/24 in) also keeping the batsmen on a tight leash, the KKR's spin troika in their 12 overs gave away only 65 runs with four boundaries.

Devdutt Padikkal (21 off 18 balls) and skipper Virat Kohli (39 off 33 balls) got off to a great start by adding 49 runs in the first five Powerplay overs after Eoin Morgan started with left-arm spin of Shakib.

The opening duo attacked an under-pressure Shivam Mavi with as many as five boundaries coming in those first few overs.

However it was Lockie Ferguson (2/30), whose extra pace did Padikkal in as the left-hander, trying to cut, dragged a delivery, pitched well outside off-stump.

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sharjah Cricket Ground today. Both the teams are unchanged from their previous matches.

Chennai Super Kings have already booked their place in the summit clash on October 15.
