IPL 2021 RCB vs PBKS highlights: RCB wins by 6 runs, qualifies for playoffs

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs to qualify for the IPL playoffs at Sharjah Cricket Ground on Sunday.

Batting first, RCB posted 164 for 7 and then restricted Punjab to 158 for 6 in 20 overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal was again the star with figures of 3/29 in 4 overs. RCB now have 16 points and have officially become the third team after CSK and DC to have made it to last four stage.

Earlier, Glenn Maxwell scored 57 off 33 balls while Devdutt Padikkal contributed 40 in Royal Challengers Bangalore's 164 for 7 against Punjab Kings in Match 48 of 14th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) at Sharjah Cricket Ground today.

Skipper Virat Kohli scored 25 while Mohammed Shami (3/39) and Moises Henriques (3/12) were the chief wicket takers.

This is the highest total this season in Sharjah.

Royal Challengers Bangalore only need a won in its last three matches to qualify for the playoffs as Kolkata and Mumbai have lost their recent matches. Three wins in as many matches will give RCB a chance to finish among the top two if CSK or DC slip up in their last couple of matches. However, if the RCB loses all three remaining matches, the Virat Kohli-led side could be eliminated given four teams could end up on 14 points, vying for two qualification spots.

A win for the Punjab Kings will keep them in contention for the crucial 14-point total. Even if PBKS gets there, they'll need other outcomes to go its way in order to qualify.
