Mumbai Indians once again failed to cross the last line and ended up being 12 runs short of the Punjab Kings'total of 198 to lose their fifth consecutive match in the Indian Premier League 2022. The match at Pune saw Dewald Brevis, the U der-19 Superstar from South Africa show glimpses of his talent as he hit 49 off just 24 balls, but got out at the wrong time, unable to help his team get over the line. 

Odean Smith held his nerve to defend 22 off the last over after being hit for back-to-back sixes in his previous match in a last-ball finish. He gave just nine runs in the last over and took three wickets to finish at 4/30 in his four overs. For Punjab, Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal hit fifties while Jitesh Sharma in the end played some fiery shots to make 30* off just 15 balls to take Punjab to 198/5 in their 20 overs.
