The chase by Punjab was going good early on as the opening partnership scored 35 in the first four overs. However, once Chameera got rid of Mayank, the wickets just kept falling and there was no stoppage to the free fall. Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow did get starts but did not look eager enough to convert them into bog scores and as result, Punjab fell short. 

Earlier in the evening, being asked to bat first, Lucknow Super Giants were helped by an 85 runs stand by Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda for the second wicket. But post that, wickets fell in quick succession and LSG were reduced to 126-7 in the 18th over before Dushmantha Chameera 17 and Mohsin Khan 13* took them past 150 ane eventually to 154-8.

Krunal Pandya, who bowled brilliantly to concede only 11 runs and take two wickets in his four overs was adjudged as Player of the Match ahead of Mohsin Khan who also performed brilliantly with both bat and ball. But Pandya's spell was indeed game-changing because he choked the flow of runs and took the wickets of Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Jitesh Sharma.
