Gujarat Titans tasted their first defeat of the season as Sunrisers Hyderabad beat them comprehensively by 8 wickets with five balls to spare. With this victory, the team from Hyderabad also brought up its second consecutive victory. Skipper Kane Williamson and Nicholas Pooran made useful contributions with the bat for SRH with the former hitting his first fifty of the season. Earlier, Krunal Pandya also scored a fifty

SRH vs GT Match Summary

 

The Sunrisers started their chase of 163 very slowly, getting to just 11 runs in the first four overs. But both skipper Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma did not waste the balls that they used up early as in the next two overs they hit 31 runs and more than just made a good powerplay for themselves and their team. 

 

Sharma got out on 42, but Williamson and Rahul Tripathi added 40 for the second wicket before the latter was retired hurt. Williamson though kept on going and brought up his first fifty of the season. Just when 34 were needed off the last 24 balls, Williamson got out on 57 off 46 balls. 

 

But Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram stitched together an unbeaten stand of 39 runs and won the game for their team by 8 wickets with 5 balls to spare. 

 

Earlier in the evening, Thanks to a fifty from skipper Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans managed to get to 162-7 in their 20 overs. Abhinav Manohar made 35 off 21 balls thanks to three dropped catches
