In Match 22 of Pro Kabaddi 2019, Surinder Singh produced a terrific all-round display to ensure U Mumba ended their home leg with a win as they beat Gujarat Fortunegiants 32-20 at Sardar Vallabbhai Patel Indoor Stadium in Mumbai on Friday. Surinder got a high five and made an excellent super raid to lead U Mumba to an impressive victory. For Gujarat Fortunegiants, this was the first defeat of PKL 2019 while U Mumba registered their second win in front of their home crowd. Rohit Baliyan made a crucial super raid in the second half which shifted momentum in U Mumba’s favour. Gujarat Fortunegiants didn’t do much wrong for most of the match but lost to a moment of brilliance from Surinder Singh as they never recovered from his super raid.

It was a closely-contested affair in the first 10 minutes as both teams were tied at 4-4 with little to choose between U Mumba and Gujarat Fortunegiants. Surender picked up two tackle points for U Mumba whereas Rohit Gulia scored two raid points for Gujarat Fortunegiants. Fazal “Sultan” Atrachali marshaled his troops at the back very well for U Mumba
Abhishek Singh made a crucial do-or-die raid in the 15th minute and for a minute it looked the momentum will swing U Mumba’s way. But Gujarat Fortunegiants made a super tackle in the 17th minute to cut down the deficit. Surender Singh had a strong first half for U Mumba as he scored 4 tackle points. At the end of the first half, U Mumba held a slender 9-7 lead.
Gujarat Fortunegiants started the second half with a bang as they forced a super tackle to level the match at 9-9. U Mumba then went on a six-point run as they inflicted an all out to lead 15-9 after 25 minutes. Rohit Baliyan made things worse for Gujarat as he produced a super raid in the 27th minute to give U Mumba 18-10 lead.
Gujarat Fortunegiants came back as they scored four straight points to trail 15-18 and reduced U Mumba to just two men. In the space of a minute U Mumba turned the match on its head as first they forced a super tackle, then Surender Singh came up with a super raid and an all out was inflicted. U Mumba then led 28-15 with less than four minutes to go.
With less than five minutes all Gujarat could do was make an attempt to reduce the margin of defeat to seven. U Mumba, however, were in no mood to relent and didn’t show any signs of complacency.

Pro Kabaddi 2019, Day 12, Match 1: Telugu Titans vs UP Yoddha In Match 21 of Pro Kabaddi 2019, In a last minute dramatic twist, a technical point decided the fate of the match between Telugu Titans and UP Yoddha during the last raid as they played out a 20-20 tie.
It was low-scoring yet thrilling contest where the two defences rose to the occasion. Siddharth Desai top scored for Telugu Titans with 5 raid points. Abozar Mighani scored four tackle points. The defensive duo of Nitesh Kumar and Amit combined, scored 8 tackle points for UP Yoddha.
Both teams’ star raiders opened their accounts in the first minute as Siddharth Desai and Monu Goyat made successful raids. Telugu Titans opened up a three-point gap after five minutes to lead 5-2. UP Yoddha didn’t relent under pressure and clawed their way back to level the match at 7-7.
UP Yoddha’s Shrikant Jadhav reached the 200-raid point mark in Pro Kabaddi history whereas Siddharth Desai hit the 250-point mark. Amit put in a terrific strong tackle as UP Yoddha trailed 9-11. Shrikant Jadhav completed a do-or-die in the 20th minute as UP Yoddha leveled the match at 11-11 at the end of the first half. It was the Desai brothers that did the bulk of the scoring for Titans in the first half as they combined scored 7 raid points.
The second half saw both teams starting a bit cagily as they traded raided and tackle points. After 29 minutes, the score was level at 14 points apiece. The match was a fine example of how tough the league has become and the defensive units of teams have become stronger. Raiders from both UP Yoddha and Telugu Titans were kept quiet by both the defences.
It came to two critical do-or-die raids and while Siddharth Desai made a successful one, Monu Goyat failed to do so. With less than five minutes to go, Telugu Titans led 18-15. UP Yoddha first forced a super tackle and then got a raid point to level the match at 18-18 in the 36th minute. With less than two minutes to go, both teams were level at 19-19 and it looked like the match was heading for a tie. It looked like Siddharth Desai had won the match for the Titans but his teammates rushed to the court which led to UP Yoddha being awarded a technical point, ending the match with a tie.
