RCB vs MI Highlights: The Mumbai Indians succumbed to yet another defeat as they were beaten by seven wickets at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Maharashtra. Anuj Rawat was the main catalyst of the victory as he overshadowed Suryakumar Yadav's belligerent single-handed try to get Mumbai out of the mess. 

While Surya made 68* off just 37 balls to guide Mumbai t0 151/6 after being 79/6, Rawat scored 66 off 47 balls to anchor his team nearly home before he was run out, unable to take his bat through.

Rawat was rightly adjudged Player of the match for scoring his maiden IPL fifty in a winning cause for his team as batting on the two-paced Pune track was not easy. But on that same wicket, he scored 66 runs, hitting two fours and six gigantic sixes.

Glenn Maxwell is back for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and he has straightaway fit into the place of Sherfane Rutherford. As for Mumbai, Daniel Sams makes way for Ramandeep Singh while Tyamal Mills is also not part of the Playing 11 and Jaydev Unadkat has been brought in, meaning that Mumbai are going with only two foreign players

RCB vs MI: What’s next?

 

The IPL 2022 is going no holds barred as after two games tonight, tomorrow, i.e. on Sunday, April 10th, 2022 two more matches would be up for grabs as in the day game, Shreyas Iyer will take on his old unit with his new troops as Delhi Capitals face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Brabourne Stadium from 03:30 pm IST

 

In the game later tomorrow night, two teams who have been going great this season will face up against each other at Wankhede Stadium when Rajasthan Royals take on the Lucknow Super Giants from 07:30 pm IST.

RCB vs MI: Match Summary

 

The chase was well mapped out by the Royal Challengers Bangalore as captain Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat, the two openers added 50 for the first wicket in 8 overs, without fretting too much about the required reate which anyways wasn’t much. 

 

Even as du Plessis, got out, Anuj kept on scoring as he reached his fifty and was well supported by Virat Kohli who was dropped early in his innings when Dewald Brevis failed to latch on to a sitter at deep square leg. 

 

The duo added 80 for the second wicket before Rawat was run out trying to take a tough single when a direct hit from Ramandeep Singh found him just short of the crease. But by then the game was almost done as merely 22 runs were needed off the last three overs 

 

Virat Kohli also got out on a marginal call of LBW from the umpire, he scored 48 off 36 balls and gave some glimpses of returning back to form. 

 

Earlier in the evening, after a great start of 50 runs in the first 6 overs, Mumbai fell down a barrel as they lost five wickets for 12 runs and seemed like they wouldn’t even cross the 100 run mark. But then a special knock from Surya came in where he scoured 68* off just 37 balls and added 72 off just 40 balls with Jaydev Unadkat to take his team to 151/6 in 20 overs.

No drama was Glenn Maxwell’s mantra as he hit the first two balls that faced for four runs and got his team over the line with nine balls to spare.

 

On the first ball, he hit it for four past the third man, it was a reverse sweep and on the second he punched it off the back foot to get it past the infield. And that’s how it was done

Oh!! What a first up ball from the p[art time leggie Dewald Brevis who was thrown the ball to by captain Rohit Sharma. It has hit Kohli on the back leg...oh beg your pardon on the front pad and it was bad and pad at the same time and the umpire who was reviewing it, webnt with the on-field call and the rest was simple, it was hitting the wickets and Brevis, who dropped Kohli earlier, has his man now. But it's too late definitely

The Mumbai youngsters have really been off the mark here as they have not just been able to get going and apart from the run out from Ramandeep, Tilak Varma and Dewald Brevis have been really off the mark. Just now, Brevis fielded well and threw at the stumps to try and get a run-out, but instead, Talk Varma, running in from deep mid-wicket wasn’t able to collect and that resulted in an overthrow

 

And here we have another one as two runs are run by Kohli and a wayward throw once again from Varma results in an extra run and what should have been 16 13 is now 14 off 13 balls 

 

Six!! And all that pressure of bad fielding means that Bumrah goes for a length ball which is not his strength area and gets clobbered for a six by Karthik
