Pathum Nissanka's 55* was more than enough to guide Sri Lanka to a five-wicket win over Pakistan even as they were 29/3 at one stage in the chase of their target of 122. Nissanka was aided by the quickfire knocks of Bhanuka Rajapaksa (24) and his captain Dasun Shanaka (21) as well.  Sri Lanka won the match with three overs remaining and became the only unbeaten team in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2022. 

SL vs PAK Player of the Match: Wanindu Hasaranga

It was a difficult choice to make between Waninidu Hasaranga and Pathum Nissnaka but the commentators ruled in favour of the former as he was named the Player of the Match. Hasaranga picked three wickets in his four overs and two of them, Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali came in back-to-back balls and broke the back of Pakistan’s batting. Hasarnaga also scored 10* off three balls to win the game in the 17th over.

Sri Lnaka have finally cut the long rope to its vice-captain Charith Asalanka and have brought in experienced Dhananjaya de Silva in his place. Pramod Madushan has been handed the debut cap in place of Asitha Fernando. 

Pakistan have also made two changes to their playing 11 and brought in Hasan Ali in place of Naseem Shah and Usman Qadir in place of Shadab Khan. These two will be playing their first game of the tournament
