Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | Aus Win- What's ahead for India?

The Indian team after this six-wicket loss which was not in a one-sided manner as the previous losses of the team have been in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022, would look to take the positives as it face Bangladesh on the 22nd March 2022 in its penultimate game fo the tournament. A win there would mean that its last game against South Africa would become a virtual must-win and a loss against Bangladesh, the chances of which happening are very rare, but must not be discarded totally as cricket is a funny game, would almost end the team's campaign.

So that would be it for today's India vs Australia encounter in CWC 2022 where Australia defeated India in a last-over thriller by six-wicket as it chased down the highest-ever target (278) in the Women's World Cup history. We at BS Web take your leave, for now, Join us on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 06:00 am IST, 30 minutes prior to the start of the game between India and Bangladesh. Thank You for tuning in.

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | Aus win- Match Summary

Mithali Raj led Team India gave a very tough fight to the Australian Women's Cricket team in the fifth match of their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022 campaign at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand. However, even after scoring 277, they were unable to defend it as Meg Lanning played a captain's knock, scoring a brilliant 97 off 107 balls to take her team to a straight fifth win and thereby becoming the first team to qualify for the Semi-Finals in this World Cup.

Australia were up to the task from the very start of their chase as the opening pair of Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes added 121 before it was broken by Sneh Rana. India picked two back to back wickets to come back in the game. But then again a 103 run stand between Lanning and Ellyse Perry put Australia right in front. There was a rain break and after that India bowl tight overs and removed Perry and then Lanning to get the game to the last over with 8 runs needed from it. Jhulan Goswami was given the ball, but Beth Mooney sealed the game in the first three balls itself, scoring a four, a double and another four.

Earlier in the day, after being put to bat first, the Indian team scored 277/7. It was the 130 run partnership between captain Mithali Raj (68) and Yastika Bhatia (59) that got the Indian team going. But after losing both Yastika and Mithali, India were once again struggling at 213-6 before Harmanp[reet Kaur (57) and Pooja Vastrakar (34) added crucial 64 off just 47 balls to take India to 277. For Australia, Darcie Brown took three wickets and finished with figures of 3/30 in her 8 overs

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | Aus win- Meg Lanning Player of the Match

Meg Lanning, the Australian captain has been named the Player of the Match for her brilliant performance with the bat. Although she missed out on what would have been a fantastic century, her innings of 97 off 107 balls was however the main reason that Australia chased down the historic 278, the highest ever total in the history of the Women's Cricket World Cup.

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 280-4 | Over 49.3- Aus win by six wickets

Four!! Well, that is very poor, very very poor from Jhulan Goswami as she bowls a length ball instead of bowling a yorker first up and Monney has played it over long-on for a four.

And a fumble here from Mandhana would now get Mooney two runs and she is back on strike once again. It was Mooney in September 2021 as well against Jhulan who won Australia the game and once again it seems like she will win the game here

Four!! And yes she has won the game here with a four straight down the ground and what looked like hope for India has now been extinguished by a brilliant play from, Mooney. Australia have now recorded the highest chase in World Cup history in the Women's game as they win the game by six wickets.

2:08 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 270-4 | Over 49- Aus need 8 off 6

And that's a great first ball from Meghna to Mcgrath as a dot ball here now makes it 8 off 7 balls with Goswami to ball the last over. Now India would not want a boundary here. Let's go

And it's a dot ball. It was wide down the offside and played straight to Pooja Vastrakar. What an over has Meghna Singh bowled here. This is simply sensational.

2:06 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 270-4 | Over 48.4-Lanning gone

Now Lanning is back on strike to Meghna Singh and she is on 96 and she pulls this one, but straight to deep mid-wicket. Aus now need nine off 10 as India keep the noose tight here, trying to stretch the game to the last over

Woah!! That was sensational from Pooja Vastrakar, she wouldn't just give up, would she? It was there to be driven, Lanning drove, but straight to Pooja at Point and she takes a stunner and now Australia need eight off eight with new batter Tahlia McGrath at strike

2:02 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 267-3 | Over 48- Tight over from Goswami

With a two to Backward-Point, Lanning now moves to 96 off 101 balls and is just four away from what would be a magnificent hundred in this historic run chase. This chase of 278 would be the highest runs chased in the Women's Cricket World Cup match. But now she has played three dots in a row and Aus now need 11 off 13 balls. Well, it's 11 off 12 now. Just two runs off this over then

1:58 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 265-3 | Over 47

Four!! Once again, it was wide outside off and Beth Mooney needed no second invitation to get going and get the ball past the Point fielder for a four

Nine runs come off this over and Australia need just 12 off the last 18 balls now

1:54 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 257-3 | Over 46- Aus need 21

Jhulan Goswami comes into the attack as a last throw of the dice it seems from Mithali Raj. Can the most experienced Indian bowler get India the most needed wicket here?

No, she cannot and in fact, Meg Lanning has carved a four out here and now Aussies need just 21 of the last 24 balls

1:49 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 249-3 | Over 45- Aussies taking the game away

Four!! Just as we were thinking that the pressure might build from the other end, Beth Mooney comes down the ground and hits it past long-on for a four. And just after the four, she runs a double too. Now Australia just need 29 off 30 balls

1:46 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 241-3 | Over 44- Lanning taking it home

Australia can do it in singles here, however, if India are able to get Lanning, the pressure will build suddenly and that would get the game rolling quite literally. Cam Pooja do it though?

So far in the 44th over, she has given away four of five balls. But It's the wicket that India need

And that would be it as the pressure is now released with this four as Lnning cuts it off the back foot past the Point fielder for four

1:43 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 233-3 | Over 43- Tight over

Wow, what a great over here from Rajeshwari Gayakwad as she gives only one run and keeps the required run rate moving up as Australia now need 45 off 42 balls

1:40 PM

Live | India vs Australia | CWC 2022 | AUS 232-3 | Over 42- Perry gone

Is there another twist in the tale here? Just after the rain break, India have struck again as they get the wicket of Ellyse Perry who hits almost a waist-high full toss straight to short cover where captain Mithali Raj catches it easy

Four!! No just after the wicket, you cannot give a freebie like that to Lanning as with that she hits a four and now Australia need only 46 off 48 balls
