Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA Win- Match Summary

Laura Wolvaardt started the South African chase in a great manner as she scored 80. Lara Goodall did well too and was out for 49 before India picked quick wickets and got the match tilted in their favour with 45 needed off 30 balls before Cloe Tryon and du Preez teed off and brought the target down to 18. Gayakwad and Deepti then stretched it to the last two balls with three needed of two and the rest as they say is history.

Earlier in the day, India reached 274/7 courtesy of half-centuries from Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj. However, they weren't able to convert that start and could make only 50 runs in the last 10 overs, thereby falling a bit short of what they would have liked on the board.

2:51 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA Win | Player of the Match: Mignon du Preez

The experienced South African has been named as the Player of the Match for her brilliant 52 off 63 balls. True that she was given a few chances, but it takes courage to convert them and she did it and was therefore adjudged Player of the Match.

2:50 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA Win-That's how it finished

It was a heartbreaking loss for the Indian Women's Cricket team as no ball on the penultimate ball of the match against the South Africa Women's team turned the game on its head as instead of being a wicket, it was no ball and a free hit on the next ball. Had it not been a no-ball, ISouth Africa would have needed three of the last ball with eight wickets down. But the foot was on the line and on the line is no-ball.

With two needed to two, Mignon du Preez, who was caught on the no-ball and was earlier dropped by Mandhana at long-on, took her team home on the last ball.

With this loss in their seventh and last league stage match of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022 campaign, the women in blue were eliminated as they ended up on six points, one below West Indies and their dreams of reaching the third straight semi-final in the last three ICC World events. was over at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

2:07 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 275-7 | Over 50- South Africa win by three wickets

And now this is all gone it seems as Ismail faces a free-hit and India have not brought the field inside and Ismail manages to get a single and now one needed of one ball and du Preez comes down the ground and takes it over the infield and South Africa win this on the last ball. India did all it could, but that no ball! That drop catch by Smriti Mandhana and both of it of du Preez has now cost India the game.

India are now out of the World Cup

2:00 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 273-7 | Over 49.5- du Preez out, but it's a no ball

Deepti Sharma is taking a lot of time here to release the third ball and a single has been taken here and now it is Shabnium Ismail on the case with four needed off three balls

India in a mini-conference here as the field is being set by Mithali, Kaur and Mandhan with Deepti Sharma in there was well. Seems like Shabnim will go over the in-field. Let's see

After all that field setting, one run has been taken and now three needed from two balls and du Preez will go for two or four

Down the ground and this is jubilation here as Mignon du Preez goes for the big shot and hoes out in the deep ti Harmanpreet Kaur who won't drop it for her life. She has been involved here in almost every wicket.

No this cannot be happening. This cannot be happening as the wicket has now been called a no ball. The foot was on the line and the line belongs to the umpire

1:54 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 270-7 | Over 49.2 Run out

Deepti Sharma will bowl the final over here and she has to defend 7 to get a Super Over and 6 to win India the game and get her team into the semi-final

Six needed off five balls now with du Preez on strike at 49. She comes down the ground and hits to long-on where Harmanpreet Kaur fields the ball and releases it quickly and it seems like run out here. Yes, it is a runout, but it is Trisha Chetty who is run out and  du Preez is still on strike, so purpose achieved for SA, but India still have five to defend off four balls

1:50 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 268-6 | Over 49- 7 needed off six balls

India need a wicket badly and that's why Rajeshwari Gayakwad was given the ball, but India are letting Chetty and du Preez score singles easily even as Smriti Mandhana puts in a great dive to save two runs. Now 8 needed off 7 balls. Chetty is now getting her pads settled for the last ball and a single is taken off the last ball and now seven needed off six balls with Trisha Chetty on strike

1:46 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 261-6 | Over 48- 14 off 12 now

And the plan almost worked only that Richa Ghosh wasn't able to get the stumping done. Harmanpreet Kaur, prior to that over was discussing stumping down the leg with Richa Ghosh, but that has not materialised although there was a chance

six runs come from this over and it is way too easy for India now as Rajeshwari Gayakwad, who gave away 14 runs in her last over, has now been given the ball.

1:41 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 255-6 | Over 47- 14 runs and a wicket

Four of the first ball and four of the second as well. This game is going away from India here as two fours have taken Rajeshwari Gayakwad has almost been taken off guard here. South Africa are coming into their own here. the team that has got better than every other team in close contests is now inching towards getting the better of India.

Pathetic from Rajeshwari Gayakwad here as she bowls a full toss. Full toss? are you kidding me? This is just pathetic and now she gets the wicket but I think it's too little too late and the dangerous Mignon du Preez is still on the crease. 14 from this over and a wicket. In two overs, the game has turned on it's head

1:36 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 241-5 | Over 46- Pooja gives away 11

The last five overs coming in and a lot of discussions taking place on the field and finally Pooja Vastrakar has been given the ball, even as Deepti Sharma and Harmanpret Kaur have two overs left each.

And on the very first ball, an outside edge took the ball towards deep third-man and Renuka once again the guilty party as she gives away two runs instead of one

Too full from Vatsrakar. she needs to keep it on a good length. She can't just keep bowling full here as du Preez hits it over the bowler's head for a four. The decision to give to a fast bowler hasn't really come off well as Pooja has once again conceded a four trying to ball a yorker outside off. The game is now going away from India as one decision from Mithali has ruined it. One spinner over and it would have been still good

1:28 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 230-5 | Over 45-Kapp gone after Mandhana drop

Rajeshwari Gayakwad has been brought into the attack and she has started well with just one off the first two balls. Smriti Mandhana has slipped India's World Cup here it seems. She has dropped a dolly and that too of Mignon du Preez and that is going to hurt big time if a wicket doesn't come soon

But here is the wicket ...it has come and courtesy who? Thor Kaur of course and it is the wicket of dangerous Marizanne Kapp and brings with it Chloe Tryon to the crease.

1:24 PM

Live | India vs South Africa | CWC 2022 | SA 226-4 | Over 44-49 needed off 36

That there was a chance for run-out there as Deepti Sharma threw it to Harman at the non-striker's end and an unkind bounce got the ball away from Harman

Now into the 44th over and Renuka Singh Thakur has made a mess of a very easy ball that should have been fielded but has now resulted in four runs and pressure is released and now two more runs are taken here. Nine runs from the over, all thanks to the misfield at Point from Renuka otherwise it would have been another six-run over
