Three Indian cities have made it to the list of top 31 destinatons across the world as key emerging alternatives to existing places for the IT/ITeS industry, global consultancy firm KPMG said.
KPMG in its report- 'Exploring Global Frontiers- the new Emerging Destinations' said, as existing favourite locations for shared services and outsourcing have started to become saturated, newer cities are emerging, offering new and improved incentive packages and talent, that are better geared for the IT/ITeS industry.
Though the list is dominated by cities in developing countries, it also includes three Indian locations -- Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Nagpur -- which may be valid competitive alternatives to the existing favourite destinations.
Commenting on the findings, KPMG Sourcing Advisory services in India Partner-in-Charge Viral Thakker said, "Realising the growth potential of the IT-BPO industry, tier-II cities in India have now jumped on the sourcing bandwagon and can be projected as viable destinations."
The report stated that besides Bangalore, Mumbai, the National Capital Region (NCR), Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad, which are now regarded as "emerged destinations", several smaller tier-II and tier-III Indian cities have the potential to attract IT-BPO investments.
