IT finishing school, 3Edge Solutions, is all set to launch a specialised training programme on mobility and cloud computing shortly to meet the demand for these emerging technologies, according to Prashanth Reddy, director.
“The three-month programme, which will have components including software and application development, will be launched in a week from now. We are looking at a student intake of 30 people per centre initially,” he told mediapersons here on Monday.
The specialised training programme, targeted at engineering graduates, will focus on Android and iPhone platforms. The course, with a fee structure of Rs 40,000, will comprise 540 hours of training.
3Edge Solutions today opened its second centre in Hyderabad and eighth nationally, with the remaining being in Chennai, Warangal, Kakinada and the NCR region. Across the eight centres which are operational, the company has a transforming capacity of more than 1,200 graduates per quarter. As on date, the company has built more than 3,800 careers through its finishing school programmes.
“The new centre in Hyderabad will initially have a student intake of 90. We are in the process of launching a 2,500-sft centre in Kolkata by January 2012, involving an investment of around Rs 30 lakh and with an intake of 70 students in Phase-I,” Reddy said.
According to V Rajanna, vice-president and regional head, TCS Hyderabad, the Indian IT industry recorded revenues of $88 billion last year and holds the potential to touch $375 billion by 2020.
“The industry will be able to make up for only $225 billion by 2020, primarily because of employability issues. Today, employability of fresh engineering students in the IT sector is only 15-20 per cent because of lack of ready-to-bill skilled manpower, an opportunity for companies like 3Edgeto tap into,” Rajanna said.
