Adobe Systems is expecting to reach double-digit growth figures this year. The company has identified government, video segments & educational verticals as the key growth engines in India. Its new product Adobe Creative Suite (CS)-5, launched in April has been well received. So, it is planning to launch Flash player 10.1 in Indian market very soon.
Speaking to Business Standard, Adobe Systems, Country marketing manager, Prabhjeet Singh said, “Going by the market sentiments, we expect to achieve double-digit growth this year.
In 2009, there was a decline in the revenues due to the downturn but the first six months of the current calendar year has been pretty good for us. Apart from metros, we would focus on Tier-II & Tier-III cities for selling our products including recently-launched CS-5, an advanced design and development software.”
He added the media and entertainment industry, which was expected to grow at 11.2 per cent in 2010, was likely to be the largest consumers of the new CS-5 software. However, we will also concentrate on verticals like government, video segments and educational.”
The company would target India with all its five business units: business productivity, creative solutions, mobile and device solutions, platform and print publishing. Adobe products caters to creative professionals and developers in the broadcast & media, education, financial services, government and manufacturing sectors.
It is also contemplating to come out with new Web-based distribution models for the emerging markets.
At present, the company’s software are made available to customers only through the physical retail distribution chain. “In the new models that are currently being worked out, a range of Adobe software would be available through a hosted service (cloud computing) and subscription-based licensing model,” he said.

To achieve growth, the company doubled its sales force over the last one year to have 40 marketing officers now. Its manpower in the field of research and development (R & D) in India now stood at 1600. Adobe has two R & D campuses in India, one located at Noida and the other at Bangalore.
These campuses currently have capacities of 1500 and 450 respectively. The Indian R & D strength represents 30 per cent of the parent company’s global workforce, with an ownership of over 20 products including Pagemaker, Frame maker, Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop Elements, Captivate and a set of PDF readers for hand held devices.
Currently there are more than 100 authorised partners nationally. Adobe also has distributor partnership with Redington and Ingarm to increase its reach and tap more verticals in Indian market through their own reseller network across the Metros, Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier III cities.
