The Indian information, communications and technology (ICT) sector should aim at capturing 15% of the global IT business by 2008, President A P J Abdul Kalam said, adding that "small aims are crimes" and it needs an "indomitable spirit" to achieve the target."Our first aim should be to capture at least 15% of the global business volume in these two sectors - IT and ITeS-BPO - which is expected to be around $1.2 trillion by 2008. The market share of the Indian softwareindustry in IT services, ITeS and BPO alone should be around $200 billion by that year," Kalam said in his address at the valedictory function of the Nasscom 2005: India Leadership Forum."Today, the software industry in India is nearly $28 billion, comprising $18 billion in exports and $10 billion from the domestic market, and contributing to nearly 24% of the nation's exports," President Kalam said while addressing over 1,200 delegates over a video conferencing facility.
