Aircel rolls out mobile services in Pune

Telecom operator Aircel today announced the launch of its GSM mobile services in Pune.     

With a subscriber base of over 20 million, Aircel has extended its services to Pune after having rolled out its 17th circle with Mumbai, Aircel said in a statement.     

"We will be introducing products and services uniquely tailored to meet the special needs of our Pune customers. To reward high usage ... All local calls wherein the first minute is charged at Re 1, the second minute at 50 paise and the third minute onwards, it is 30 paise," Aircel Chief Operating Officer Gurdeep Singh said.     

Aircel is a part of Malaysia's Maxis Communications and has operations in 17 telecom circles in the country.     

The company would offer an in-built tariff for lifetime on STD calls wherein the first minute would be charged at Re 1 and the second minute onwards at 75 paise, it said.     

Targeted at the migrant population, Aircel would offer STD calls at 50 paise for the first three months to Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Chennai and Delhi, it added.     

Aircel would offer group calling at 25 paise and SMS at 10 paise, it said.
