Bharti Airtel today launched its 3G services in Uttar Pradesh (West) circle, which also includes Uttarakhand.
In the first phase, 3G services have been launched in Dehra Dun, Agra and Meerut towns, where Airtel has set up 35 ‘Experience Zones’ for its subscribers.
The 3G rollout would subsequently cover 30 towns in the circle over the next six months.
Announcing the 3G launch at Meerut, company’s Operations Director (North and West), Mobile Services Deepak Mehrotra, said 3G offered numerous avenues for customers to have faster access to entertainment and information.
“We expect a strong uptake and high demand for 3G services. Besides, we are confident this launch will add impetus to the expansion of data services in India,” he noted. Against 2G, which basically supports voice service, 3G is hi-speed mobile broadband suited for faster data transfers, including video calling, high definition gaming and faster internet providing speeds of up to 21.1 mbps. However, speed also depends upon the mobile device and cell site traffic at that point of time. So far, Airtel 3G services are available in 31 cities/towns across India including Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Coimbatore, Mysore, Manipal, Udipi, Jaipur, Delhi NCR, Hubli, Patna, Hyderabad and West Bengal.
