Aspire Systems today formally opened its development centre in the SIPCOT IT Park at Siruseri, near Chennai. The centre absorbed an investment of Rs 10 crore and has a built-up area of 45,000 square feet. |
At a press conference, Aspire's chief executive officer, Gowri Shankar Subramanian, said that the company's business revolved around carrying out work for companies engaged in developing software products. |
Subramanian termed Aspire's business as Outsourced Product Development (OPD). Aspire carried out work at every stage of a product's life cycle, he added. |
In some cases, Aspire was part of the development right from the time the product was conceived, said the company's management team. Most of the work, however, came when the product needed new features, they added. |
The company forecast that OPD had the business potential to help the company record an almost ten-fold increase in revenue to about Rs 100 crore by 2008. |
Aspire plans to increase the extent of built-up area in its development centre to accommodate people for the anticipated business. |
Work has started on the second phase of the centre. A third phase has also been planned. Once that is done, the development centre would have a built-up area of 1.2 lakh square feet located on a four-acre plot. |
