The city-based Bartronics India Limited, a leading player in the automatic identification and data collection (AIDC) solution provider in the country, today introduced two novel biometrics solutions in the country -- Multi Layered Embedded Fused Biometric Security System and Touchless Finger Printer System.

The company has tied up with emBiosys Asia Pacific Pte Limited of Singapore, a major player in the industry in the continent.

Briefing media persons on the unique features of the first-of-its-kind biometric security solutions in the country, Sudhir Rao, the managing director of Bartronics, said the two technologies enable use of biometric features for identification and verification purposes.

The fused biometric system (BDC 1000), which will cost between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 7 lakh depending on the options employed, provides integrated support for smart cards, tokens, and biometric identifiers such as voice, iris, vein, face, hand, fingerprint and signature verification tools.

A patented technology, it allows the users to deploy context-sensitive and strong multi-layered authentication and authorisation policies with secure access to a central server for physical, client-server or web-enabled applications for access control, identity verification etc.

BDC 1000 allows capture of snapshot of unauthorised persons, and alerts the security personnel. It also prevents 'forced entry' access and triggers silent alarm for the security personnel, Sudhir Rao explained the uses of the system for law enforcement agencies.

On the Touchless fingerprint system, according to Sudhir Rao, does away with wear and tear associated with conventional fingerprint systems based on physical contact.

It is also a patented technology incorporating a contact less finger printer sensor and significantly cuts back on the reading time and failure rates.

The company has bagged Rs 1.5 crore per annum order from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) to deploy around 18 scanners at Tirumala for authentication purposes. TTD has currently the largest touchless fingerprint security system in the world, he informed.

Sudhir Rao said the automatic identification and data collection market in India was currently of Rs 60 crore size and was growing at the rate of 12 per cent every year.

Bartronics enjoys a marketshare of 25 per cent, with fragmented players accounting for the remaining, he added. During the current fiscal, the company is expected to register Rs 20 crore turnover as against Rs 16 crore in the fiscal, he disclosed.

An ISO certified company, the 14-year-old Bartronics also supplies a range of products like barcoding printers and scanners, universal access points, vehicle-mounted computers, wireless local area networks, local area data management i.e., keypad hand-held computer, radio frequency identification technology systems etc, Sudhir Rao added.

Raman Venky, the managing director of emBiosys Asia Pacific, said the company was also offering advanced mission-critical solutions in facial and image recognition, web-enabled collaboration and workflow solutions, interactive two-way high-speed emergency notification and closed loop communcations solutions.
