Hyderabad-based Bartronics India (BIL) - providing automatic identification & data capture (AIDC) solutions - announced incorporation of its second wholly owned subsidiary -Bartronics America in the US. This will allow the company to expand its foray in the US market. The company further plans to acquire other existing companies in the region to give a fillip to its US foray. "The trend of global acquisitions by Indian companies has been reinforced by BIL's latest endeavour. The US incorporation is part of Bartronics vision to expand its horizon, and US is the largest market for AIDC technology industries," said Sudhir Rao, Managing Director, Bartronics India Limited (BIL).BIL's venture in the USA assumes significance in the backdrop of US being an early adopter of technology hot-bed for the AIDC technologies industry. Also, US happens to be a relatively mature Radio Frequency Based Identification (RFID) market offering immense potential for providing services by Bartronics. A recent market research study has reiterated US as the largest market for RFID based solutions.Bartronics has embarked on an Rs 270 crore expansion plan for manufacturing of smart cards in India. For the half-year ended September 2007, Bartronics had declared a sales turnover of Rs 93 crore with a net profit in excess of Rs 17 crore. Bartronics has its operations in India, Middle East, Sri Lanka and South East Asia with a customer base of over 1,600.
