Having rolled out its 3G services in the Gujarat circle, state-owned BSNL is hoping to revive its subscriber base in the state.  In next one year, the telecom major expects to register three lakh new customers for its 3G services itself over and above its 31 lakh subscriber base for 2G services.

"Since we would be the only player so far to roll out 3G services in Gujarat circle, we are banking on the new services to get us another three lakh subscribers in the next one year," said Satya Pal, chief general manager, BSNL Gujarat circle.  The new 3G services will provide BSNL subscribers to access to high speed data streaming including movies, music, mobile TV, and video call, among other things.

Apart from that, BSNL has also launched Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH)  services through its Gigabyte Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology that will enable users to access high speed broadband internet at uplink speed of 1.25 GBPS and downlink speed of 2.5 GBPS.

"We have in all invested around Rs 500 crore in Gujarat, of which Rs 400 crore has been spent behind the 3G roll out, while rest was utilised for FTTH services, " Satya Pal added.
