BSNL introduces blackberry service

With a view to enhance the customer’s delight, the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has introduced Blackberry services in the pre-paid segment. It is available under three plans namely life plan, social plan and regular plan.

While the tariff for life plan is Rs 298 per month, the tariff for social plan is Rs 299. The tariff for the regular plan has been fixed at Rs 991 per month.

Any customer having a Blackberry handset can avail this service by recharging through a recharge voucher from BSNL’s C-TOPUP platform. The validity period of this voucher would be 30 days.

“The introduction of Blackberry services in the pre-paid segment aims to enhance the customer’s experience further as the speed of communication would be amazing”, Balaram Pal, general manager (mobile services), Orissa Telecom Circle told Business Standard.

In a simultaneous move, to enhance the utility of the 3G platform further, the state owned company has introduced Personal Computer (PC) to mobile and mobile to PC video call service. For availing the service, the PC subscriber would have to download the Video Web Phone (VWP) software from BSNL portal.

He would have to install the VWP client in the desktop which has a web camera. After installation, the customer has to enter a mobile number in the dial pad displayed in the VWP. The VIG would allow the PC client to make a video call to any 3G mobile, after the successful authentication of the user credentials, Pal added.

Similarly, the company has also introduced multi-party video conferencing service for the 3G customers. Under it, the corporate customers can book the video conference by calling the BSNL call centre. The call centre will send the details of the conference through e-mail to all the participants.

The participants would have to dial a short code 223 either from 3G handset or PC to enter into the conference room. All participants including the chair person has to enter their respective PIN codes provided to them. The video of the particular participant speaking would be displayed on all other’s screen. For mobile to PC video call, the tariff is the 3G video call charge plus 50 paise per minute and for PC to mobile video call it is the rent (Rs 50 per month) plus the charge of the 3G video call and 50 paise per minute. On the other hand, for the multi-party video conferencing, there are three tariff plans to be chosen from like plan-250, plan-500 and plan-1500.
