BSNL launches 3G services in Nashik

To cover 50 more cities in Maharashtra-Goa circle by August.

After Pune, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has launched its 3G mobile services in Nashik city. The company is also planning to launch 3G mobile services in 50 more cities and towns in Maharashtra-Goa circle by August 2010 and has already invested around Rs. 200 crore for the purpose.

BSNL’s 3G services will offers Video callings, High-speed Internet with speed Up to 3.6 Mbps, High quality multimedia services and Live Mobile TV facility.

“We have launched 3G mobile services in Nashik city. This service is now available to all postpaid and prepaid subscribers of Nashik city and 5 surrounding towns like Malegaon, Manmad, Deolali, Igatpuri and Sinnar. We are planning to introduce 3G mobile services in 50 more cities & towns in Maharashtra-Goa circle by July 2010 and have already invested around Rs. 200 crore for the purpose,” Aloke Kaul, Chief General Manager, BSNL, Maharashtra-Goa circle, said at a press conference here.

Other remaining 50 cities, wherein BSNL’s 3G services are to be introduced, include Goa, Karegaon, Lonavala, Baramati, Shirdi, Ahmednagar, Dhule, Nandurbar, Beed, Aurangabad, Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur, Karad, Satara, Ulhasnagar, Bhivandi, Vasai, Bhusaval, Jalgaon, Savantwadi, Ratnagiri, Nagpur, Alibag and Karjat, Khopoli, Mahad, Pen, Chiplun, Solapur, Amrawati, Pandharpur, Osmanabad, Akola, Washim, Sangli, Buldhana, Khamgaon, Jalna, Latur, Hingoli, Parbhani, Nanded, Bhandara, Gondia, Wardha, Yavatmal, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli.

The existing BSNL 2G Prepaid customers can recharge with a Special tariff Voucher (STV) of Rs.21 or just send SMS, ‘ACT3G’ to 53733 following which Rs.21 will deducted from their balance and they will be migrated to 3G for a period of 30 days. These migrated customers can experience Video Calling, High Speed Internet, Mobile TV etc at 3G charges while retaining their 2G Voice Plan.

BSNL 2G Postpaid customers have to pay additional Rs.25 only per month to avail 3G services over and above their 2G services. The existing 2G Postpaid customers can also send SMS, ‘ACT3G’ to 53733. They can also approach customer service centers to subscribe 3G services.
