Public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched netPC in the Uttar Pradesh (east) circle in association with Chennai-based Novatium Solutions to provide affordable Internet connectivity, especially in rural areas.
While BSNL will offer broadband, Novatium will provide desktop and other hardware and software support. netPC comes bundled with a complete desktop and broadband connection.
BSNL is targeting a subscriber base of over 10,000 in the first year itself in the region, chief general manager UP (E) Omvir Singh said addressing the media here.
The netPC, which does not have storage device, is being marketed as a maintenance free computing service, which includes anti-virus backup and regular technical upgrades by Novatium. Similar services had already been launched in Tamil Nadu, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Haryana and the Northeast.
“Roll out of the service in other cities has been lined up,” Novatium general manager (alliances) Praveen Dwivedi said.
