This is the second supplementary chargesheet which is being filed under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). They have been charged with conspiracy, aiding and abetting the organised crime syndicate and other charges.

Others who were chargesheeted include senior inspector Crime Branch (Mumbai) Datta Dal, police inspectors Vasisth Andale and Prabhakar Kakade and four others. The accused were present in the court when the chargesheet was filed.

One important aspect of this chargesheet is that the SIT has used the latest scientific methods of investigation. The accused C Krishna Yadav was subjected to polygraph test and P-300 BRA in finger printing tests which have yielded fruitful results according to the SIT.

The SIT informed the court that so far 49 witnesses have given their statements under Section 164 CRPC before the concerned courts and confessions of 15 accused under Section 18 of MCOCA have been recorded.

The first chargesheet was filed against the kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi and 32 others on March 27 this year which gave details of how Telgi's gang infiltrated into the Nashik-based India Security Press.

After the original chargesheet, the SIT filed its first supplementary chargesheet on September 15 against 16 accused including Samajwadi Janata Party MLA Anil Gote and 15 others.

Five accused including three high-ranking police officers, who were yet to be put under arrest, were not being included in the chargesheet as investigation against them was still continuing.

These include suspended joint commissioner of police holding the rank of inspector general Sridhar Vagal, the former Mumbai police commissioner R S Sharma and retired assistant commissioner of police M C Mulani.

The scientific methods of investigations which had been mentioned in the chargesheet included polygraph test and p-300 brain finger printing tests. The polygraph test gave an indication of whether a person was telling the truth or lie.

The P-300 brain finger printing tests records a suspect's brain wave response to stimuli through headbands equipped with EEG sensors.

Krishna Yadav who was chargesheeted today is the second MLA, who has been arrested under the stringent provisions of MCOCA in the scam. Hailing from Himayatnagar Assembly constituency of Andhra Pradesh, Yadav was arrested on September 6 and was brought to Pune. He was remanded to police custody from time to time.

The first MLA to be arrested in this case is Anil Gote.
