In sharp contrast to the boom in the telecom sector, BSNL may take a hit of Rs 6,500 crore in the current financial year. The avergare revenue per user (ARPU) has come down to Rs 530 from Rs 580 last year. "If the same trend continues, ARPU may fall to as low as Rs 450, which will translate into a revenue loss of Rs 6,500 crore in 2005-06," sources said. One of the factors for the declining revenue is considered to be the inability to take timely and market-friendly decisions a commercial organisation should take, BSNL officials said.
