Joining the telecom tariff war, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the country's largest telecom service provider, today unveiled mobile STD at Re 1 and local call at 60 paise a minute for a 15-second pulse rate under a monthly fixed charge of Rs 999 for its post-paid users. |
The PSU has also launched another post-paid mobile plan with a monthly rental of Rs 999, which comes bundled with a Cellone Axia A108 handset, where customers can make free calls worth Rs 700. |
The move follows Reliance Infocomm's announcement on Sunday offering free outgoing calls up to Rs 2,000 on some of its new handsets in addition to lower local and STD tariffs. |
BSNL's post-paid plan has a registration charge of Rs 500 and a one-time activation charge of Rs 200. |
Under the plan, the tariff will be 60 paise per minute for local calls within the BSNL network. Calls to other networks will cost Re 1 per minute. |
For STD calls, the tariff would be Re 1 a minute within the network and Rs 1.60 per minute to other networks, the company said. |
