US-headquartered Cybernet Software Systems (CSS) group announced that it had set up an independent IT services subsidiary in India called 'CSS Software India' to target the domestic Indian market. The group already has an extensive presence in the country through four outfits.

The new entity plans to open 12 new offices across the country over the next 3-6 months. It will hire over 500 professionals in the next 12 months for its business in India. The company will quadruple the headcount of this entity to over 650 from the current 150 employees.

Addressing a press conference, Shiva Ramani, co-founder, CSS Group, said that the floating of a dedicated subsidiary for India came on the heels of various factors that include growing domestic market, increased awareness on IT as a business enabler and increasing spending on technology by companies.

He added that the group had created proven track record in delivery of services to the global clients that had resulted in 100 per cent referenceable customers.

"We have a library of capabilities to offer to companies in India based on our global experience and aim to double the customer base in India over the next 6-12 months", he said.

CSS Software India, which will offer software development, testing and infrastructure management, will target the telecom, banking financial services and insurance, retail and manufacturing verticals.

It has already been providing its services to 10 companies in India including private sector, banks, telecom providers and automobile manufacturers.

The CSS Group has SlashSupport (technical support), ReadyTestGo (software testing), CSS Inc (software development) and Synaptris (software products) under its fold.

It has offshore infrastructure presence in India across 12 delivery centres. At present, it employs about 4,000 and plans to scale it up to 6,000 by the end of this year.
