Speaking about the tie-up, Sharlin Thayil, Chief Operating Officer, Bharti Airtel Mobile Services said, "The association with the Department of Post will accelerate our rural connectivity and help us to integrate with government bodies and organisations in Gujarat. The initiative will make Airtel services easily accessible to both existing customers and prospects across Gujarat."

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Postal Circle is continuing to increase the number of e-Payment post offices till the service is available from 537 computerised post offices, stated Vijaylakshmi Seth, Chief Post Master General, DoP - Ahmedabad.

As part of the tie-up, both the organisations have mutually agreed to offer services like sale of pre-paid cards, sale of re-charge vouchers and collection of payment of bills of Airtel post-paid mobile subscribers through e-Payment services through the department's postal network.

At present, the scheme provides collection of postpaid mobile bills of Airtel subscribers through select post offices throughout the state. Moreover, Bharti Airtel Limited will receive details of consumers who have paid their bills through e-Payment post offices on the same day.
