The department of telecom (DoT) will approach the prime minister's office (PMO) again on the issue of who has the last word on matters relating to access deficit charge (ADC) shortly, in the backdrop of differences in its views and that of trai on the matter. |
DoT will firm up its views on trai's response on ADC and related issues by the end of this week and after discussing them with the communication minister Dayanidhi Maran, will revert to the PMO for the next course of action. |
The department will seek to impress upon the PMO that ADC is a policy and not a regulatory matter, sources said. |
Telecom secretary J S Sarma said, "The reply of Trai is under examination". |
Positioning ADC as a policy directive, DoT would make a case before the pmo for introducing "revenue-share" model of ADC collection, instead of the current per-minute based ADC. |
