DQ Entertainment (International) Limited, a Hyderabad-based animation, game art and entertainment company, is targeting to garner $5 million (approximately Rs 23.5 crore) revenues from ‘Keymon Ache’, its first local animation production for kids channel Nickelodeon (Nick), a part of Viacom 18 Media.

The company on Thursday signed a co-finance and production agreement with Nick India to produce the series comprising 26 high-definition half-hour episodes, to start with. Under the deal, Nick India will have the rights to the property in the south Asian region, including India, while DQE will hold exclusive rights for the rest of the world.

“Nick India has provided the content for the series and DQE will be executing the project, including English voice and music composition in Europe, to address the global audience. The series will go beyond television to new streams like home video, part-licensing, merchandising and onto mobile and Internet platforms for further monetisation once the series is televised, which is expected from the middle of 2011,” Tapaas Chakravarti, chairman and chief executive of DQE, told Business Standard.

‘Keymon Ache’ is based on the everyday life of an ordinary nine-year-old boy and his set of magical toy friends.
