Technology-enabled knowledge solutions provider Edutech India is in talks with various state governments in the country to set up digital English language laboratories at universities. |
The company is in talks with the state governments of Gujarat, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. "Of these, we are in advanced stages of talks with the Gujarat government to provide online English language learning and testing solutions to some universities. |
"The bidding process to choose the solutions provider is on in three states and is expected to be completed within two months. We are in preliminary talks with the rest," Venkatesh L S, general manager, Edutech, said. |
The winner of the auctions at the state government level would set up English language laboratories in some universities on a pilot basis. Once the pilot projects are successful, they might be replicated in other universities in the state. |
The projects to be implemented would be part-funded by the state governments and the project size would vary depending on each university's requirements, Venkatesh added. |
"Over the next few years, the market potential for English language training, other than the regular teaching in schools and colleges, is expected to be around Rs 2,000-3,000 crore on an average," he said. |
