Elitecore, French firm to offer Net security

Elitecore Technologies, an Ahmedabad-based vendor of identity-based integrated security appliances, has teamed up with French company TheGreenBow to offer internet protocol security (IPSec) VPN, to provide security on virtual private network (VPN).
 
The company will offer the service within its product cyberoam unified threat management (UTM) appliances.
 
After the tie-up with TheGreenBow, Cyberoam will add service of IPSec on VPN with existing services such as content filtering, firewall, intrusion detection, gateway level anti-virus and anti-spam, spyware blocker, phishing and pharming prevention, bandwidth management, multi-link manager and web cache.
 
"With our new service of IPSec VPN, for an example, any employee of our client will be able to access the local area network (LAN) or virtual private network of that particular client from his laptop with security," said Harish Chib, vice- president, (marketing), Elitecore Technologies.
 
"Earlier, the accessibility of LAN or VPN from laptop was possible but it was not secured from any kind of threats," he said.
 
"Our OEM agreement with TheGreenBow enables us to offer an open standard VPN client to support any IPSec VPN Gateway and Router, providing a true multi-vendor solution to enterprises," he added.
 
Describing further about the technology Chib said, "Cyberoam IPSec VPN delivers secure, encrypted tunnels with high performance and low bandwidth requirements. It supports IPSec, in Tunnel or Transport mode as well as Layer Two Tunneling Protocol."
 
Talking about the cost of the product Chib said the price of the product was around Rs 5,000 but less for bulk copies.
 
According to Chib, the industry of UTM is around $65 million in the country in 2006. "Cyberoam provides security to more than 1000 corporates, educational institutes and government organisations globally," he said.
