State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to establish network of third-generation (3G) across Chhattisgarh by October 15. “We have planned to launch the 3G service in all the 18 districts of Chhattisgarh by October 15 and the preparation for the same has started," chief general manager of BSNL (Chhattisgarh circle) Ram Yagna said.
BSNL had launched the 3G services, a mobile communications system that enhances performance of multimedia applications, high speed mobile broadband and Internet access, in Chhattisgarh in June this year.
At present, the service is available in the urban areas. Earlier, five districts, namely Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Kabeerdham, Mahasamund and Dhamtari had the 3G network. The company recently launched the service in Baikunthpur and Ambikapur.
According to Ram Yagna, the Chhattisgarh circle has 5,000 subscribers of 3G services. The combined number of BSNL landphone and mobile subscribers is more than 800,000.
