A recent survey on data privacy for children, conducted by Tsaaro, a data privacy and cyber security provider, found that while parents were aware of data privacy, the majority were not aware of any laws that protect children’s data privacy. Over 700 people participated in the survey. Akarsh Singh, Tsaaro’s co-founder and chief executive officer, said, “Parents have incorporated steps to ensure that their children are familiar with privacy, but there are a few problems that these parents state that they face while trying to teach their children about privacy. This issue is the immense technicality and usage of jargon. This raises the question of whether the concept of data privacy cannot be simplified.”

On the issue of how parents keep themselves well-informed on ways to ensure their child’s privacy, Singh said there was “a sense of disparity…because the answers were scattered.”
