Tech Mahindra plans many new centres in the country. |
The morphing of Mahindra British Telecom to Tech Mahindra seems to have been a harbinger of good fortune for the company. |
After posting impressive results for the year ended March 2006 "" a whopping 130 per cent increase in net profit (to Rs 235 crore) with a 31 per cent growth in revenue "" the telecom software company has just ribbon-cut a spanking new development centre in Noida. |
"This 1,500 people facility marks our entrance into north and would be a compelling driver for our business model," says Vineet Nayyar, the company's vice chairman and MD. |
Tech Mahindra "" majority owned by Mahindra and Mahindra in partnership with British Telecom "" already has development centres in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. It is now planning expansion in other cities like Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Kolkata. |
"We will invest close to Rs 200 crore for our upcoming facilities," says Nayyar. The aim is to take the headcount to 15,000 next year from about 10,500 currently. |
The Rs 100 crore Noida centre, which would focus on the billing and utilities of leading telecom players of US and European nations, besides doubling up as a remote network operation centre, would add to the software export capabilities of the company. |
Tech Mahindra is already the country's eighth largest software exporter and British Telecom is one of its major clients. |
