Google on Wednesday announced the launch of Google Allo, a new messaging app for the Android and iOS platforms. Google Allo allows users to chat including making plans, finding information, and expressing yourself more easily, said the company.

Packed with features including smart reply, options for sharing photos, emojis and stickers, Google Allo will be the first place you will be introduced to the Google Assistant, in a preview edition.

For Indian users, Google has enabled smart replies in Hinglish. Further, rolling out at launch are over 200 stickers created by popular independent artists that are relevant to and will appeal to Indian users.

Announcing the availability of Google Allo, Amit Fulay, Group Product Manager, Google said: "Whether it's planning a night out or just catching up, we rely on messaging to stay in touch with friends and family every day. But too often we have to hit pause on our conversation — whether it's to check the status of a flight or look up that new restaurant. So we created Allo, a messaging app that helps you keep your conversation going, by providing assistance when you need it."

With Smart Reply, users can respond to messages with just a tap, so one can send a quick "yup" in response to a friend asking "Are you on your way?" Smart Reply will also suggest responses for photos sent in Google Allo, said the company in a statement.

Emojis and stickers are an integral feature of any chat platform. With Allo, one can make emojis and text larger or smaller in size by dragging the "send" button up or down. Make photos your own by scribbling on them before you send. Choose from over 25 custom sticker packs, or more than 200 stickers that have been created by independent artists and studios around the world to express yourself.

Google Assistant, allows users to have a conversation with Google — ask it questions and it will help you get things done directly in your chats. Now, users no longer need to leave a conversation with friends just to grab an address, or share a YouTube video, or pick a dinner spot. Chat with your Assistant one-on-one in Google Allo to answer questions, or type @google to bring the Assistant into your chats with friends, whenever you need it, said the company.
