Google has launched the beta version of its YouTube Go app targeted at low income consumers, allowing users to preview videos, saving video offline and share with friends on the app without using any data.

The move to allow users share videos offline on YouTube Go app - similar to sharing files on Shareit, will allow Google to tap new data starved users and engage with them before they come online.

Google plans to have activities in Udaipur over the next few weeks to gather insights from consumers on using the app.

"With the rapid transformation sweeping India's mobile internet landscape, we know there will be an even greater demand for a fast and video app," said Jay Akkad, Product Manager, YouTube, in a statement.

The YouTube Go app launch is part of Google's move to reach to new users like offering high speed internet at Railway stations and partnering with government in educating customers. It is looking at India as a country to experiment the mobile first approach before launching in other developing countries.
