Govt reassures setting up of animation academy

A year back, at the last animation conference, Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had announced the setting up of an animation academy in the state.

However, today, at Animation India 2006, Ratna Prabha, secretary, IT and communications, Andhra Pradesh, admitted that there was no major progress on this front.

"Thank you for reminding us about it. We will set it up as soon as possible," was what she said at the conference.

Meanwhile Kiran Karnik, president of Nasscom said that though the Andhra Pradesh government has today announced that the academy will be set up soon, he would like to see acceleration in the process.
