GTL wins Rs 100cr deal from telecom firmBS Reporter / Mumbai October 03, 2007Telecom infrastructure company GTL today bagged a network services contract from a telecom operator in India. The name of the operator was not disclosed by the company to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The telecom operator has a major presence in North and North East circles, and is expanding operations across Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal. As part of the contract, GTL would provide turnkey network services with an initial order of Rs 100 crore ($25 million). As part of the engagement, the company will lead manage the project and would also offer equipment supply, civil and electrical works and professional services.The operator recently received additional licences to expand pan-India, and plans to invest in excess of $2 billion for the roll out of telecom networks in the next 2-3 years. The contract provides for a long-term engagement between the company and the operator. The company shall also deploy telecom infrastructure and offer operations and maintenance services for three years.GTL's IT enterprise and management business unit was recently sold to France Telecom
