HCL Infosystems Ltd, an information-enabling company, plans to set up three more career development centres (CDC) in Gujarat.

According to the company, Gujarat has the advantage of 33 per cent of its population living in urban centres.

"Ahmedabad has a proud academic legacy with several premier educational institutes providing quality education to the city's young people. We are certain that HCL CDC will fill the gap in high-end IT education and help the students in the city earn a rewarding career in the high-growth IT industry," said Kumar.

HCL has set an extensive plan to bring out well-trained and skilled IT professionals and also ensure suitable placement opportunities to the successful candidates.

To target that HCL Infosystems Ltd will soon set up 100 Career Development Centres (CDCs) across India in the next 12-15 months to train students in the field of IT. Presently, it has 20 centres operational in the country and the Ahmedabad centre is the 21st centre.

According to Kumar, the requirement of manpower skills does not match the number of IT graduates entering the job market.

According to a Nasscom study, there are 13 lakh professionals working in the IT industry while there is a requirement of 25 lakh skill IT professional whereas the attrition rate is 25 - 30 per cent in the industry.

The centres will not just help industry bridging the gap between demand and supply of skilled professionals but it will also help HCL in creating a pool of manpower for its own requirement.
